Kolkata, West Bengal, 2013 to 2019
Days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months, and before we know it, another year has passed by once
again. Every New Year is celebrated all over the world with great enthusiasm and fun. We, Helping
Hands of Kolkata also welcomed New Year 2020 with the aged and fallen part of the society at
The Mulvany House was established in 1899 by the Calcutta Women’s Missionary Association,
an interdenominational Society for aged and desolate senior citizens.
Though it is alarming to see the growth and popularity of Old Age Home systems in India then we
can only share a part of our smiles with them in their long emotional journeys. Conversations with
them, while they share their most valuable experiences of life, taught us some important lessons of
livelihood. They were so happy to see some new faces came for them and were ecstatic to have food
from outside which is a bit tastier than their regular simple food.
Through our limited capacity, we at Helping Hands of Kolkata tried to provide dry food items, regular
breakfast meals for a month and a minimal 3-4 hour from our year-end celebration to listen to them.
Their wet eyes and heavy hearts are reminders of this so-called growing & professional society. We
have tried to reach out to them this year-end, where we felt that they need a little bit of love and
warmth from us. More to hear and more to share in the near future where we need more helping hands.
Our aim of spreading joy and love will never cease to end. We strongly believe that a small helping
hand can do wonders! We would be more than happy to have you as a part of the HHOK family for
our future initiatives.
