Sundarbans, West Bengal, June 2020: The first struggle was to reach home. Then I find there is no home. Maybe this is destiny.
These were the lines by a resident of the Sundarbans in West Bengal. This is the kind of wrath and
devastation that #Amphan has left behind. Helping Hands of Kolkata recently made contact with a
resident of a village in one of the affected areas. We wanted to transfer his funds. But he was quite
clear that money is not something that they are looking for. Entire villages have gone down. There is
no food, no dry clothes, and no shelter. So money can’t help them. So, he is coming down to
Joynagar and we are going to him to give him some supplies, which include tirpals, medicines, old
clothes, and dry food. We will try and get more details from him so that we can reach out to more
Apologies for the short notice. But we will start from Uttarpara on the 2nd of June in the morning
with the supplies, hit the EM Bye-pass, and drive towards Joynagar. So, anyone who wants to
contribute, especially in kind, can please reach out to us @ 8961081514. If time and situation
permit, we will drop by your place and collect the essentials. Our GPay number is the same.
We have always believed that One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. So please come forward. It’s time to resurrect our homeland.
